About Dr Chantal Sewram
Qualifications: MBChB, FCOG (SA), MMED (O+G)
Dr Chantal Sewram is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist practising in Berea, Durban. Her work is rooted in medical expertise and enriched by personal experience.
She trained at various hospitals across KwaZulu-Natal during her registrarship, earned her Fellowship from the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2016, and completed her Master of Medicine in 2018. Since then, she has dedicated herself to her private practice.
Dr Sewram chose obstetrics and gynaecology because it allows her to connect deeply with women during defining moments in their lives. From early signs of pregnancy to hormonal shifts, she listens carefully and offers clarity in times of uncertainty.
She recognised the need for a female gynaecologist in a male-dominated field. As a mother, a wife, and the daughter of a menopausal mother, she understands the challenges women encounter in each stage of life and is committed to helping them navigate their journeys with greater ease and confidence.
She brings this lived experience into every consultation, creating a calm and open space where you can speak freely, even if you’re unsure how to describe what you’re feeling. She aims to help you understand your body and move forward with clear, practical support.
Dr Sewram remains focused on what matters most to the women she sees: clear guidance, structured care, and a space to feel heard.
